FAQ

CBD TOPICAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is the difference between CBD topicals and CBD products I would ingest?

The major difference between the two is topical treatments do not tend to enter the bloodstream whereas obviously anything ingested or inhaled would.  What this means is CBD topicals are for more localized pain and inflammation. Applying CBD topicals directly to the skin where you are feeling localized pain and inflammation will also have a quick onset time and therefore fast acting relief for you.

Can I use a CBD topical product and other CBD products as well?

You can absolutely use CBD topicals and other forms (let’s say the oil or gummy form) at the same time.  When you ingest CBD products, they tend to have a more full body effect where  CBD topicals will have its largest effect directly on the location it was applied but generally not symptom relief anywhere else.  It should always be noted that CBD topical products do not tend to accumulate in the bloodstream in any significant amount but everyone is different and there is a chance some of the CBD will reach the bloodstream.

How often can I apply CBD topicals?

How often you apply a CBD topical is dependent on many different factors such as pain level, tolerance, strength of the CBD product etc.  In general we recommend applying your CBD topical 1-3 times per day as needed. As with other methods, start low and go slow as you increase the amount over time.

Will CBD topicals make me feel “high”?

CBD does not impact your body the same way THC does.  CBD does not provide the euphoric “high” effect most people associate THC with.  It is also important to note CBD is non-addictive.

Could I fail a drug test from taking CBD?

All of our full-spectrum products contain below the legal limit of.3% THC or less.  With that said, we legally cannot guarantee you would pass all drugs tests.  Each drug test is unique for what level of THC and cannabis metabolites they allow. For this reason we recommend speaking with your physician before starting a CBD topical regimen if you know you will be subjected to drug tests.

How do I store my CBD topical products?

It is important you always keep your topical product out of direct sunlight. For the best results, store them somewhere dry, cool, and out of excessive heat or light.

Do I need to keep my CBD products in the fridge?

Technically you may be able to prolong the shelf life of our products by keeping them in the fridge, however our products can be used for up to 2 years. The long shelf life (if stored properly) usually outlasts the frequency with which most people use the products; however, refrigerating your products won’t do any harm but is probably unnecessary.

Are CBD topicals legal to be shipped to my state?

All of our topical CBD products are federally legal in all 50 states, our products at Total Health are derived from hemp and contains under .3% THC on a dry weight basis in compliance with the Federal Farm Bill.

What does full spectrum mean?

A Full spectrum topical CBD product refers to a product which contains all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids (including less than .3% THC), terpenes, and flavonoids of the original hemp source. Working together, all of these compounds in the plant will amplify the effects of each other typically leading to an enhanced experience for the consumer known as the “Entourage Effect”.  The “Entourage Effect” is basically demonstrating that the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts.

What are the side effects of taking CBD?

First off, we believe most of the side effects consumers are reporting while taking CBD related products are a direct result of impure, mislabeled, or contaminated products.  The side effects of taking CBD are typically mild compared to the side effects of other potentially more potent pharmaceutical drugs. The World Health Organization has stated “to date, there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD”.  Some of the most common reported side effects of taking CBD are fatigue, decreased appetite and diarrhea. CBD has been studied using very high daily doses upwards of 1500 mg per day with no serious side effects for human health.  As mentioned in other sections, CBD does have the potential to interact with other medications so we always recommend speaking with your physician prior to beginning a CBD regimen. It should be noted that there are no reported deaths from a cannabis overdose.

Do CBD topicals interact with other medications?

Although the risk of any drug-drug interactions while using CBD is extremely low, it is important for us to point out that we always recommend speaking with your physician prior to starting a CBD regimen.  CBD (cannabidiol) can interact with the cytochrome P450 (CYP450) family of enzymes.  The reason this is important is because if taking high doses of CBD, that enzyme can become saturated and therefore could lead to higher or lower levels of other medications in your blood.  As a practical tip, we commonly recommend taking your CBD at different times than other prescribed drugs. Lastly, CBD is not unique in interacting with this family of enzymes but something to absolutely be aware of.

What type of extraction method is used at Total Health?

We use a winterized CO2 extraction method to maximize the bioavailable amount of CBD in each product as well as ensure every product is free from residual solvents, heavy metals, and all types of contaminants.

Do you have any CBD isolate products?

At this time, we do not carry a pure CBD isolate product. CBD isolate products are just CBD and do not have any other cannabinoids. It should be noted a pure CBD product such as a CBD isolate can be more challenging to find the appropriate dose and oftentimes people need more than if they are using a broad spectrum or full spectrum CBD related product.

Are your products vegan?

Although we try to carry as many vegan products as possible, not every product is in fact vegan.  The products that are vegan are clearly listed as so in the product description.  If the product does not specify that it is vegan in the description than it is not.
