Also, not all CBD oil bottles are the same size so this can lead to further confusion.

FAQ

CBD OIL TINCTURES FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What are the health benefits of Omega 3 fatty acids, B Complex vitamins, and all 20 common amino acids?

Omega 3 fatty acids play many key roles in the human body but some of the key aspects are improving brain health and cardiovascular health as well as decreasing inflammation. B Complex vitamins are vital for optimal functioning of your metabolism.  Lastly, amino acids are really important for building red blood cells, neurotransmitters, hormones, enzymes and many other tissues like muscle, bones, tendons, and ligaments.

What are the different types of CBD oil?

There are three broad categories of CBD oil (Full spectrum, Broad Spectrum and Isolates).

A full spectrum product contains the majority of the plant compounds including a small amount of THC (.3% or less).  Broad spectrum products do not contain THC. Lastly, isolate products are only one cannabinoid (ex. CBD).

How much CBD oil should you take?

People respond very differently to CBD and other cannabinoids.  Things like body size, tolerance, severity of symptoms absolutely play a role but the goal is to find the right dose for you.  We typically recommend starting on the lower side and increasing as needed. The average daily dose of CBD for most consumers is about 30-80mg or more.  If symptoms are high to severe you may need a significant more amount.  Note: CBD has been studied in humans up to 1500mg a day and still safe.  Not to say you need to go that high (almost no one should) but you can feel confident safely increasing your dose.  Please speak with your healthcare provider about taking CBD to ensure it will not have any significant impact on other medication you may be taking.

Will CBD make me feel “high”?

CBD oil does not impact your body the same way THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) does.  CBD oil does not provide the euphoric “high” effect most people associate THC with.  It is also important to note CBD oil is non-addictive.

Could I fail a drug test from taking CBD oils?

All of our full-spectrum products contain below the legal limit of .3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) or less.  With that said, we legally cannot guarantee you would pass all drugs tests.  Each drug test is unique for what level of THC and cannabis metabolites they allow. For this reason, we recommend speaking with your physician before starting a CBD oil regimen if you know you will be subjected to drug tests.

How do I store my CBD oil?

It is important you always keep your CBD oil out of direct sunlight. For the best results, store your CBD oil in a dry/cool location and out of excessive heat or light.

Do I need to keep my CBD oil in the fridge?

Technically you may be able to prolong the shelf life of your CBD oil by keeping it in the fridge, however our products last a couple years. The long shelf life (if stored properly) usually outlasts the frequency with which most people use the products; however, refrigerating your products won’t do any harm but is probably unnecessary.

How long before my CBD oil expires?

We recommend consuming all your cannabinoid related products within 2 years of date of purchase.

How do you use CBD oil/drops?

First you will need to select the desired amount of oil using the dropper.  The dropper will be marked at .25, .5, .75 and 1 milliliter (mL).  Each product has a different strength so it is important to pay attention to what a serving size is.  Each serving size would be the amount of CBD in one milliliter (mL). If you chose .25 mL the dose would be 1/4th of a serving.

You will place the oil under your tongue and hold the oil there for about 15-120 seconds or even slightly longer if necessary.  The CBD oil will begin to get absorbed into small blood vessels under your tongue and therefore begin to have an impact directly into the blood stream.

After about 15-120 seconds you will swallow the remaining CBD.  We recommend taking your CBD oil with food (specifically a meal with some fat in it).  Most of the time we recommend taking half of your daily dose in the morning and the other half in the late afternoon/evening.

CBD dosing is highly individualized, and we recommend the “start low and go slow” approach. Doses can range from as low as 1-2 mg per day all the way up to 100+ mg per day.

CBD may need time to start to make changes to your Endocannabinoid System and for this reason we often recommend staying at a dose for 5-7 days prior to increasing the dose. The average daily dose for most people is about 30-80 mg per day. Some people will see relief from simply a few drops of CBD oil.

How long does CBD oil take to work?

Using a CBD oil can mean you may potentially feel the effects within a handful of minutes (especially if you hold it under your tongue) up to about an hour or two.  How quickly consuming CBD oil works can vary widely from person to person.  The effects of CBD oil usually persist for 4-8 hours which is why we typically recommend taking twice a day.

Is CBD oil legal to be shipped to my state?

All of our CBD products are made from cannabinoids coming from the hemp plant. Federally legal in all 50 states, our products at Total Health are derived from hemp and contains under .3% THC on a dry weight basis in compliance with the Federal Farm Bill.

What does full spectrum CBD oil mean?

Our full spectrum CBD products refer to a product which contains all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids (including less than .3% THC), terpenes, and flavonoids of the original hemp source. Working together, all of these compounds in the plant will amplify the effects of each other typically leading to an enhanced experience for the consumer known as the “Entourage Effect”.  The “Entourage Effect” is basically demonstrating that the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts.

What are the side effects of taking CBD oil?

First off, we believe most of the side effects consumers are reporting while taking CBD oils  are a direct result of impure, mislabeled, or contaminated products.  The side effects of taking CBD are typically mild compared to the side effects of other potentially more potent pharmaceutical drugs. The World Health Organization has stated “to date, there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD”.

Some of the most common reported side effects of taking CBD are fatigue, decreased appetite and diarrhea. CBD has been studied using very high daily doses upwards of 1500 mg per day with no serious side effects for human health.  As mentioned in other sections, CBD does have the potential to interact with other medications so we always recommend speaking with your physician prior to beginning a CBD regimen.

Does CBD oil interact with other medications?

Although the risk of any drug-drug interactions while using CBD is extremely low, it is important for us to point out that we always recommend speaking with your physician prior to starting a CBD regimen.  CBD (cannabidiol) can interact with the cytochrome P450 (CYP450) family of enzymes.  The reason this is important is because if taking high doses of CBD, that enzyme can become saturated and therefore could lead to higher or lower levels of other medications in your blood.  As a practical tip, we commonly recommend taking your CBD at different times than other prescribed drugs. Lastly, CBD is not unique in interacting with this family of enzymes but something to absolutely be aware of.

What is the difference between CBD oil and hemp seed oil?

Although many people confuse CBD tinctures and hemp seed oil and use the terms interchangeably, they are in fact quite different. Hemp seed oil still has beneficial health compounds such as healthy fatty acids but not highly concentrated CBD (very little or zero CBD). CBD oil on the other hand is derived from the flower, stalk, and stem of the hemp plant.

What type of extraction method is used at Total Health?

We use a winterized CO2 extraction method to maximize the bioavailable amount of CBD in each product as well as ensure every product is free from residual solvents, heavy metals, and all types of contaminants.

Should I take my CBD oil with food?

Taking CBD with a meal containing fat can help more CBD get absorbed into the bloodstream and therefore maximize the health benefits of cbd oil. Some common examples of healthy fats are nuts/seeds, omega-3 fatty acids, fish, olive oil and even things like dairy products.

What is CBN?

CBN (cannabinol) is another cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant.  CBN is typically in higher amounts when the cannabis is aged and/or stored. In general, CBN seems to promote better sleep quality and duration.

Do you have any CBD isolate products?

At this time, we do not carry a pure CBD isolate product. CBD isolate products are just CBD and do not have any other cannabinoids. It should be noted a pure CBD product such as a CBD isolate can be more challenging to find the appropriate dose and oftentimes people need more than if they are using a broad spectrum or full spectrum CBD related product.

Are your products vegan?

Although we try to carry as many vegan products as possible, not every product is in fact vegan.  The products that are vegan are clearly listed as so in the product description.  If the product does not specify that it is vegan in the description than it is not.
